About the Commitee
ASCE LA YMF visits local, regional, and federal government agencies that represent the Metropolitan Los Angeles Areas as well as works on a variety of different infrastructure report cards for the region, state, and nationally. During these visits with politicians, we aim to be the advocates for change within our engineering community as there are very few engineering politicians. Our hope is to create a better future for our community and we hope to do that by promoting bills that will enhance the amount of capital projects being done to improve our infrastructure and better our infrastructure report grade.
Every year, we host a City Drive-In, where we inform the City of Los Angeles' Council Districts of the important issues that affect engineers as well as how it will help all of their constituents. We provide attendees a training and briefing on all the issues as well as how to speak and approach the council districts during these scheduled meetings.
In addition, to our hosted Drive-Ins, we attend the Sacramento Fly-In and National Fly-In to Capital Hill in Washington DC. These are similar events but on a larger scale.
