Ani Sarkissian
Ani is a Civil Engineering Associate at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Irvine and is a licensed Professional Engineer in California. She's been involved with ASCE since her freshman year of college. Ani currently serves as the ASCE LA YMF President, and YMF Liason for the ASCE Metropolitan LA Branch. In her spare time, Ani enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, trying new foods, and going to concerts.
Sam Potts
Sam (he/him) is a Senior Project Engineer in the Transportation Engineering group at MNS Engineers, Inc. He takes pride in designing more livable and sustainable streets for a variety of local Southern California communities. Sam graduated from California State University, Northridge where he first joined ASCE during his freshman year. Outside of ASCE, Sam enjoys volunteering as a music educator, biking, and spending time with friends. Sam also currently serves as the chair on ASCE's Committee on Student Conferences and Competitions.
Matthew Jacobson
Matthew is a Civil Analyst with Kimley-Horn, working on development services and transportation projects across California. He has worked on projects through data collection, design, and construction documents. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona in 2021. Matthew is involved locally with ASCE LA YMF, ASCE LA Branch and serves nationally on the ASCE Committee on Younger Members and ASCE Committee on Governing Documents with the Society-Level ASCE. In his free time, Matthew enjoys running, photography, golfing, and music festivals.
Mahsa Sheykhsoltan
Mahsa is a Transportation Engineer, PE at HNTB in the downtown LA office. She graduated from UCLA with a degree in Civil Engineering and Urban Planning and received her Masters in Transportation Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle. She got involved with ASCE and concrete canoe her freshman year at UCLA and held many leadership positions throughout her four years, including president. Mahsa enjoys traveling and exploring new cities and their transportation systems. She's also an avid concert and movie-goer and enjoys hiking, cycling, baking, and exploring Los Angeles.
Isabella Salgado
Isabella is a Civil Engineering Associate I at the City of Los Angeles, Bureau of Engineering. She has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University. Post graduation Isabella has gained experience in both the private and public sectors. She worked at NCM Engineering as a design consultant for Caltrans projects and more recently at Anser Advisory where she consulted for Metro as the Program Coordinator for the Highway Construction Management Group. She is excited to continue volunteering for ASCE in her position this year for LA YMF in addition to ASCE MLAB Social Chair and ASCE Committee on Younger Members as a Corresponding Member. She enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and trying new restaurants.
Ingrid Spielbauer
Ingrid (she/her) is a Civil Engineering Associate at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, where she helps manage Eastern Sierra ground and surface water to sustainably support LA's potable water supply. She graduated from UCLA in 2020 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a minor in Environmental Systems and Society, and she was involved with ASCE at UCLA as PM for the Environmental Design project. In 2023, she obtained her M.S. in Sustainable Water Engineering from UCLA. Outside of engineering, she enjoys traveling, powerlifting, trying new plant-based foods, listening to live music, and hiking with her dog.
Brianna Plancarte
Brianna is a Civil Engineering Associate at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). She received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from UCLA and is a Professional Civil Engineer in California. At LADWP, Brianna works on projects improving the reliability and resiliency of Los Angeles’s water distribution system and serves as the president of LADWP’s chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. Outside of work Brianna enjoys spending time in nature, baking, and checking out LA’s best dessert spots.
Kristine Ocampo
Kristine is a Design Engineer at Sherwood Design Engineers and has prior experience in land development and stormwater management on residential, commercial, and industrial projects in the Los Angeles and Ventura counties. She received her BS in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and in her free time, enjoys baking, biking to the beach, and planning for future travels.
Tara Char
Tara Char is a Civil Analyst at Kimley-Horn in Los Angeles on the Roadway team. She received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from UCLA in June 2024, and was actively involved as President of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute & Structural Engineers Association of Southern California as well as a member of the tech committee of the Society of Women Engineers at UCLA. In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga, running, traveling, and going thrift shopping.
Ilene Ramirez
Ilene is a Civil Engineering Associate at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. She is a licensed Professional Engineer, and holds a Masters degree in civil engineering from Cal Poly Pomona. Ilene enjoys traveling, playing golf, and swimming.
Osbaldo Ortiz
Osbaldo is currently a Project Manager at PBLA Surveying working on numerous land surveying and land development projects across California, focusing on ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, sUAS (drone) surveys, and construction staking. He is a licensed Professional Land Surveyor and Cal Poly Pomona alumnus earning his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2020. Osbaldo has been actively involved with the California Land Surveyors Association (CLSA) and ASCE since his undergrad at CPP. On his free time, he enjoys traveling and spending time with family & friends.
Maryn Santiago
Maryn is a Civil Analyst in Development Services at Kimley-Horn. She recently graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Maryn has been involved with ASCE since her first year of college and continued to hold various roles until her senior year where she served as the student chapter's President. She is excited to continue her involvement in ASCE and give back to the local community. In her free time, Maryn enjoys listening to podcasts and spending time with friends.
Valerie Sarmiento
Valerie is a Field Engineer at Hensel Phelps and currently works on site overseeing her Alma Mater's Reseda Charter High School, $180M modernization project. She graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Civil Engineering degree in 2021. During her time there, Valerie served multiple board positions for CPP's ASCE, TImber Strong Design Build Team, Concrete Canoe Team, and SHPE. In her free time, Valerie enjoys running, thrifting, and grabbing a coffee.
Charles Layman
Charles is a Bridge Engineer at HDR. He has experience in a variety of bridge structures across North America working with several DOTs. He received his MS and BS degrees in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering and Materials) at Virginia Tech. He was involved with ASCE throughout his college career and was active in Steel Bridge. In his spare time, Charles enjoys spending time with his partner and pets, going hiking, trying new foods, and overall exploring new experiences.
Megan Han
Megan is a Civil Engineering Associate at LADWP in the planning side for renewable energy. She has her B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona and has been involved in the CPP ASCE student chapter throughout her college career. She is also currently a part of the LADWP chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Outside of work, Megan enjoys cooking, reading, and trying new foods.
Pauline Nguyen
Pauline Nguyen, PE is a Water Resources Engineer at Craftwater Engineering, Inc. She has worked on delivering full-spectrum services for stormwater management projects throughout California from providing regulatory support to clients to strategic planning of infrastructure investments to designing multi-benefit stormwater infrastructure. She graduated with a Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University in 2021 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from UCLA in 2019. At UCLA, she was actively involved with ASCE's technical projects since her freshman year, notably serving as project manager of the Environmental Design project in her senior year. In her free time, Pauline enjoys exploring scenic places, traveling to different countries, trying out new food places, swimming, and playing the piano.

Anndrea is a Civil Analyst at Kimley-Horn and Associates on the Development Services team. She graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with her B.S. in Civil Engineering. She has been involved in ASCE since her freshmen year of college and is excited to continue her contribution. She enjoys reading, traveling, and enjoying new experiences with family and friends.
Deanna Mcnurlan
Deanna McNurlan is a Civil Engineering Associate at LADWP with the Structural Engineering group for the power grid. She has her B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Cal State Long Beach and was a member of the CSULB ASCE chanpter. Outside of work, Deanna enjoys hanging out with her friends, exploring the bike trails of Southern California, finding new cafes, and running.
Jackie Lim
Jackie is a Project Engineer at DPR Construction. She just graduated this past June from UCLA with her Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. She was involved with her ASCE chapter at UCLA serving in various roles such as Vice President and President as well as being a member of Sustainable Solutions and the Team Lead for the ASC 67 Construction Management Mixed Use Competition Team. She is excited to continue her involvement in ASCE to keep paying it forward for all that ASCE has done for her. In her free time, you can catch her doing anything active or outdoorsy such as hiking, skiing, backpacking, playing soccer or exploring National Parks.
Lluvia López Garces
Lluvia (She/Hers/Ella) is a Civil Engineering Associate at the Los Ángeles Department of Water and Power supporting the Pure Water Los Angeles Program. She graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2021 and is passionate about driving diversity, equity and inclusion as a proud first generation Latina engineer. She is actively involved with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and has held multiple leadership roles, including with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) since college! Lluvia enjoys reading, dancing, and traveling to new cities!
Bryan Orozco
Bryan is a Civil Engineering Associate at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, where he contributes his expertise to the Water System's Project Management Office. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from UC Irvine and a Master of Science in Structural-Earthquake Engineering from UCLA, Bryan is well-versed in his field. During his time at UC Irvine, he actively participated in the ASCE UCI chapter, showcasing his commitment to staying engaged with the industry. Outside of work, Bryan enjoys exploring diverse food and dishes, enjoys dancing, and cherishes moments spent with family and friends.
Catherine Nguyen
Catherine is a Civil Engineering Associate at LADWP focusing on geotechnical engineering for water pipeline replacement projects. She received her BS in Civil Engineering from UCLA and MS in Environmental Engineering from Stanford. Outside of work Catherine enjoys concerts and café hopping.
Nicole Aquino
Nicole is a Civil Engineering Specialist at STV and works on civil and roadway support for rail LA Metro projects. She graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2021 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Nicole was actively involved in CPP's ASCE and ITE student chapters and held various leadership positions. She's looking forward to continuing her involvement with ASCE by inspiring students to consider a career in engineering. In her free time, Nicole enjoys reading, finding new places to eat, and going to concerts.
David Vo
David is currently a Civil Engineering Associate at the City of Los Angeles, Bureau of Engineering. He graduated with his Bachelor's at Cal State Los Angeles in 2021. He joined ASCE back in his junior year of his undergrad and was involved in Concrete Canoe. His hobbies include finding new places to eat and playing video games.
Katherine Wang
Katherine is a Civil Analyst at Kimley-Horn, focusing on transportation projects. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona. Since her first year of college, Katherine has been actively involved in ASCE, taking on various leadership roles, including serving as the student chapter's President during her senior year. She is excited to continue her involvement with ASCE and is committed to sharing the many opportunities the organization has to offer. In her free time, Katherine enjoys exploring new restaurants, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Fun Fact: Katherine loves animals and currently shares her home with several dogs, cats, fish, a bird, and a tortoise.
Nicole Yakoub
Nicole is a Project Engineer at BNBuilders working on large commercial construction projects. She graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. Since, she transferred to CSUN she has been actively involved in her ASCE student chapter serving as Vice President in 2022 during PSWS. She is really excited to give back and to actively participate in ASCE LAYMF.
Julian Cardenas
Julian is a Civil Engineering Specialist at STV Inc as part of their Infrastructure and Transportation department. He received his degree in Construction Engineering Management from Cal Poly Pomona in 2023. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, traveling, playing sports, and trying new foods.
Nathan Vardas
Nathan is an Engineer II at HNTB specializing in aviation design. He graduated from UCLA in 2022 with a BS in Civil Engineering, and has experience working on various airports throughout Southern California. Outside of work, he is an avid traveler, and is also interested in museums, piano, basketball, and exploring LA.
Jonathan Duong
Jonny is an Engineer 1 at HNTB who works on high speed rail projects. He graduated from UCLA with a Civil Engineering bachelor's degree in December of 2022. He was involved with UCLA ASCE as soon he transferred to UCLA in Fall of 2020 and he was the Vice President intern from January 2021 to June 2021. He currently serves as the University Outreach Co-Chair for the Metropolitan LA branch. In his spare time, Jonny enjoys watching and playing soccer, playing guitar, listening to music, watching TV shows and movies, hanging out with friends and family, and exploring new experiences.
Marlon Yanez
Marlon is a Assistant Engineer at MNS Engineers, Inc. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona in 2022. His involvement with ASCE began at CPP where he participated as construction project manager for the timber strong build competition. In his free time Marlon enjoys working on cars, taking on home DIY projects, and just recently picked up fishing.
