International Women in Engineering Day celebration 2024
ASCE LA YMF celebrated International Women in Engineering Day at the Altadena Country Club, bringing together 100 professionals, students, and advocates to honor and empower women in engineering. The event featured an inspiring keynote address by ASCE President Marsia Geldert-Murphey, a renowned engineer and champion for women in engineering. She shared insights on breaking barriers and what might be in store for the next generation of engineers. The event also included interactive activities such as a panel Q&A, networking sessions, bingo, brunch, and group discussions designed to encourage collaboration and mentorship. 5 scholarships were awarded to applicants demonstrating commitment to diversity in the profession. Attendees left eager to further foster growth and gender equality within the professional.
Thank you to Marsia for joining us in this keystone event. Thank you to Bella Salgado and Lluvia Garces Lopez for putting together the event. And thank you to trailblazers themselves, Chloe Gharios Osorio and Nikki Zulueta, who originally envisioned the event 6 years ago, for coming back to be Masters of Ceremonies!
